BCIT Pathways to Success Scholarship

 School District #43–3 awards up to $3,000.00 each*
 *Based on the number of grade 12 students enrolled in the secondary school system 2011-2012. SELECTION COMMITTEE CRITERIA GUIDELINES

„ The School District selection committee will select the BCIT Pathway to Success Award Recipient(s).
„ Selected students must meet or exceed the program’s entrance requirements. BCIT entrance requirements are program specific. For further information visit bcit.ca.
„ Students must have applied to a full time first year technology, technical studies, or trade program (excluding Apprentice) and have a BCIT student number before being considered for an award. „ The School Districts will keep all original award selection documents and send a photocopy of their selected recipients BCIT Pathway to Success Award application.
 „ The award offer is subject to the student receiving full acceptance into a full-time BCIT program. Should the student(s) not gain full acceptance or not register for a full time program, the award will automatically be withdrawn. Application deadline for students: April 1, 2020 AWARD-SPECIFIC INFORMATION Selection is based on demonstrated leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities. Examples are:
„ Leadership training/courses
„ Volunteer and/or community service
 „ Work experience
 „ Captain/president of sports team or group
„ Involvement in extracurricular activities
 „ Plays a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise
„ Letter of recommendation from school district PERSONAL STATEMENT (STUDENT)
„ Applicants write a personal statement (Form B). See application for further information.

FDU institutional entrance scholarships

Scholarship and grant consideration will be given to all undergraduate applicants to the Vancouver Campus. No separate application is required.
Generous entrance scholarships will be competitively awarded to academically talented applicants from around the world on the basis of prior academic achievement. All scholarships are renewable annually, for the life of a student's program, based on continued academic performance (maintaining a 3.00 GPA or higher).
FDU institutional scholarships are only eligible to undergraduate students.

Application procedure

  • Complete the on-line undergraduate application form and attach required documents to your application. For more details on how to apply, please visit the Admissions pages.
  • SAT or ACT test scores are required for top scholarships consideration. Please attach copies of the results with your application.
  • Please check the Admissions pages for application deadlines, unless a specific deadline is specified with the scholarship information.

Colonel Dickinson Scholarship at Vancouver Campus

  • First-time, full-time freshmen and transfer students with 24 or fewer credits are eligible.
  • The Colonel Fairleigh S. Dickinson Scholarships range from US$50,640 to $75,960 for a full program of study (120 credits); US$422 to US$633 per credit.
  • The student must maintain a CGPA of at least 3.0 after one year (two semesters) of study.

Gregory H. Olsen Scholarships

  • First-time, full-time freshman and transfer students with 24 or fewer credits declaring a major in Information Technology are eligible.
  • The Gregory H. Olsen Scholarships range from US$30,866 to $77,226 for a full program of study (122 credits); US$253 to US$633 per credit.
  • The student must maintain a CGPA of at least 3.0 after one year (two semesters) of study and a major in Information Technology.

Global Leaders Grant at Vancouver Campus

  • First-time, full-time freshmen and transfer students are eligible.
  • The Global Leaders Grants have a value of up to US$1,000; and may be awarded in addition to a study grant or scholarship. The Grant is awarded in increments of US$250 over first 4 consecutive terms of study.
  • The student must maintain a CGPA of at least 2.5 after one year (two semesters) of study.

Study Grants at Vancouver Campus

  • First-time, full-time freshmen and transfer students are eligible.
  • The Study Grants have a value of US$15,120 for a full program of study (120 credits); US$126 per credit.
  • The student must maintain a CGPA of at least 2.50 after one year (two semesters) of study.

Provost's Scholarship at Vancouver Campus

  • First-time, full-time freshmen and transfer students are eligible.
  • The Provost's Scholarships range from US$30,360 to US$40,440 for a full program of study (120 credits); US$253 to US$337 per credit.
  • The student must maintain a CGPA of at least 3.0 after one year (two semesters) of study.

Global Scholars Scholarship at Vancouver Campus

  • First-time, full-time freshmen and transfer students with 16 or fewer credits are eligible.
  • The Global Scholars Scholarships range from US$30,360 to $75,960 for a full program of study (120 credits); US$253 to US$633 per credit.
  • The student must maintain a CGPA of at least 3.0 after one year (two semesters) of study.
  • Deadline: July 1 for Fall (September) intake.
When applying, complete and submit the Global Scholars Questionnaire which is part of the application, where you can outline your interest and/or involvement in promoting issues of global importance and/or world citizenship. Attach all required documents together with your application.

Eigibility and guidelines

  1. All undergraduate students applying to the Vancouver Campus are considered for scholarships and study grants.
  2. Scholarship and grant awards vary in amount, depending on students prior academic achievement.
  3. Scholarship and grant award notification will be sent at the time of admission.
  4. Institutional Scholarships and Grants are awarded on a per credit basis at the time of admission. They are not pro-rated in future terms to reflect adjustments in Tuition rates.
  5. Scholarships are renewable for each academic year, contingent upon successful academic performance (maintaining a 3.00 GPA or higher for scholarships and a 2.50 GPA or higher for Study Grants).
  6. Early admission applicants receive priority consideration.
  7. Scholarship and Grants consideration is given to freshmen and transfer students.
  8. Scholarships may not be used at another institution.

BCSSA Scholarship for 2020 Apply Now


Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2020. One winner will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters (Fraser Valley, Kootenay-Boundary, Metro, Vancouver Island, Northern, Thompson-Okanagan).  Each winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

In selecting the recipients for this year’s awards, the scholarship committees will consider demonstrated exemplary service and leadership within the school and community.  Letters of reference will be required affirming the applicant’s accomplishments and efforts to improve the quality of life for young people and others through volunteer work and other activities.  In addition, the applicant must submit a short description (450 words maximum) of how his/her volunteer service has made a difference in the life or lives of others.

The winners will be announced in late spring 2020.

Only complete applications will be accepted for the scholarship selection process. Please ensure your package contains the required information and documents.  Please provide the information as attachments in PDF or Microsoft Word format.

Winners will be awarded a cheque once proof of post-secondary application/registration and their Social Insurance Number has been provided to the BCSSA.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Scholarships

KPU offers a wide range of scholarships, bursaries and awards to recognize students with high academic standing and provide financial assistance to help meet educational costs. The online Scholarships, Bursary and Awards Guide is a comprehensive listing of awards available to KPU students.

Before completing a KPU awards application, please read the information provided in the links below:

Scholarship Eligibility

Scholarship eligibility is based primarily on academic achievement. Other factors such as program, community involvement, and financial need may also be considered with certain awards. For awards that have a GPA requirement, the selection committee(s) will consider overall GPA unless otherwise stated for individual awards. Scholarships are open to all students, with recipients selected by the KPU Scholarships and Awards Committee (unless otherwise noted).

Bursary Eligibility

Bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need and students must complete the Budget Worksheet portion of the relevant award application in order to be considered. Supporting documentation is not required.

Award Eligibility

Eligibility for some KPU awards is based on both academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. These awards will carry elements of the eligibility criteria described above for bursaries and scholarships.

International Students

International students are eligible to apply for consideration of KPU scholarships and awards; however are not eligible for bursaries or awards where criteria includes financial need.

"No Formal Application Required" or "Faculty Recommended"

When these words appear at the end of an award description, it indicates students DO NOT have to submit an application form to Student Awards and Financial Assistance in order to be considered. The recipients will be selected through other means, such as by faculty or department selection committees.

Full-Time Enrollment is Required

Criteria that specifies "full-time enrollment is required" generally means students are required to be registered in a minimum of 9 credits at 1100 level courses, or higher, in their program of study. Awards that require higher or lower course loads will be clearly specified.

Student Responsibilities and Online Declaration Form

Scholarships, bursaries and awards are made possible by generous contributions from individuals and organizations who believe in providing financial assistance to students wishing to pursue an education. In return students are asked to:
  • Provide sufficient and accurate information, demonstrating all criteria is met, to assist the Scholarships & Awards Committee to make informed decisions.
  • Show appreciation for any and all awards received by thanking the donor in writing. Please submit your letter to Student Awards and Financial Assistance on any campus and it will be forwarded to the donor on your behalf.
  • Attend the Scholarships and Awards Ceremony.
  • Agree that a submitted application implies consent to review all information by the Scholarships and Awards Committee(s). Students who receive awards consent to the release of their name and image for publication.

Completed Online Applications

Completed online applications will be accepted until 4:00pm of the published deadlines, unless otherwise indicated. Students will be considered for all scholarships, awards and bursaries for which they meet criteria (please refer to Supporting Documentation).

Supporting Documentation

Applicants must provide 3 copies of each supporting document submitted for every award group being applied for, unless otherwise stated. Exceptions will be made for any reference letters provided to the student in a sealed envelope or sent by faculty directly to the Scholarships and Awards Coordinator.
Students are strongly encouraged to submit additional documentation in support of each online application. Documentation may include faculty references, volunteerism/community involvement references or other material the applicant feels is relevant to their application. In addition, the Awards Guide highlights specific requirement awards (ie., essays, proof of membership, etc.) The documentation MUST be clearly marked which Award Program it is intended for.
Supporting documentation must either be hand delivered or mailed to Student Awards and Financial Assistance on any KPU campus, on or before the posted deadline. Faxed or emailed copies will not be accepted with the exception of faculty reference letters which may be emailed directly to Teresa McLeod, Scholarships and Awards Coordinator at teresa.mcleod@kpu.ca
Documentation must be recent (preference within the last 2 years) and incomplete applications will not be considered.
